About Us

Our story

Bu Tea Den is an experiment in slowing down.

Bu Tea Den opened May 1st, 2025 as a two-person operation, blending art, technology, and tea culture into an experience that’s at once playful, contemplative, and just a little surreal. Created by husband-and-wife team Severin Sauliere and Natalie Tran as the next chapter of their interactive art project, Paisley ID — an evolving installation that began as a traveling piece at festivals and events, using retrofitted ATMs (AFTMs) and an arcade-style interface to generate personalized paisley fortunes.

After a couple years of bringing the experience out into the world, Bu Tea Den is where the project has finally rooted itself, inviting people to come to them. Part tea lounge, part interactive art installation, and part intimate gathering space, it offers visitors a chance to slow down: to sip a curated tea, answer a personality quiz, and watch their paisley float into the Aquarium — a shared digital tapestry of everyone who’s passed through.
