Hidden in a DTLA warehouse, Bu Tea Den is an RSVP-only lounge of immersive art and curated teas. At the heart of the experience is Paisley ID®, brought to life through ATMs repurposed as Automated Fortune-Telling Machines™ (AFTMs). Every guest is welcomed with complimentary tea and light snacks, enjoyed under lantern light in an intimate speakeasy setting.
Your visit begins with our Automated Fortune-Telling Machines™. Answer a series of questions and receive:
A printed fortune personalized from your responses
A paisley-shaped energy portrait added to the collective Aquarium projection
Tea is included with every visit, whether you choose one favorite or explore a few with friends.
In rotation at the Den:
A rare, early-oxidized oolong. Aromatic and green, with a sweet vegetal finish: bold yet refined.
Golden buds from Ning’er County. Cocoa, honey, and malt. A rich companion for long nights.
Each pour is meant to slow you down, spark conversation, and make the evening linger a little longer.

Tea and snacks are served under lantern light, and the Aquarium projection grows with each new visitor.

Guests are welcome to stay up to 90 minutes. There’s no formal program — it’s designed to move at your own pace.
We serve a rotating selection of curated teas, included with your visit. It’s served in a casual, communal “lazy gongfu” style alongside small seasonal snacks.
Each $25 reservation includes tea service, a personalized paisley fortune from our Automated Fortune-Telling Machines, and your paisley added to the Aquarium.
